Mark Twain, his work still stands as travel writer of the Middle East Emeritus

He was writing for the San Francisco newspaper at the time. When here in Israel, you will see his name etched in Library panels in stone.  He arrived here in 1867, and the letters he wrote are still considered the most widely read travelogue to this day.He lived in the Mediterranean Hotel which was later purchased by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in the Old City.
